National Games : Ban by National Media

The largest sport extravaganza of the Nation ie 33rd National Games comes to an end 2 days back. Services winning the Overall title and Manipur winning the special team medal for highest number of golds. The closing ceremony was done in the presence of Honourable Prime Minister. It was multi-colour, multi-ethnic half-month long game coming to an end.

The IOC (Indian Olympic Association) claims that such games is the foundation stone to Olympic golds in near future and unity and strength of the diverse, multi-cultural population of India.

But, honestly I doubt on the promises of IOC or PM regarding this National Games. Month long I had been watching and keep a tab on the possible news website and news at national level to find out the medal tally atleast forget the coverage. Except the initial ban of ULFA you can't find none regarding this games. I surprised to see that the National Media is playing a blind eye to the founding stone of sports in India but, they will be the first to shout and scream when India fails badly in International level like Olympic.
(Except for few national newspapers and news based in NE India.)

I think less than a million people out of the billion population are aware of National Games. Looks like the media is playing the spoilsports to the national games. How do to intend to encourage people to excel in sports other than cricket with such discrimination? The inconsistent form of Sehwag finds more media space than National Games.

It's high time the media change themselves and starts a non – discriminating coverage to all the sports and events. Else it's gonna to be to late. One day we'll have no one eligible to go for Olympic games. The GOI should act now else media will rule the country one day.
